In the year 1846 in an Amish community in Indiana, Naomi Schrock has settled into a comfortable life in her parents' home with Davey, her adopted son. Cap Stoltzfus moves into the area and befriends Davey. A couple shows up that claims Davey is their true family. How could she hand him over to these unknown relatives? Should Naomi and Cap unite to give the boy a better family? Naomi finds herself caught between the plans she has made for her future and the thought that Cap might be part of a life she could only to hope for.
