While Matthew sets forth Christ's Majesty as King, showing that He is the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, Mark's Gospel depicts Christ's Mastery as the Servant-Son of God. Dr. McGowan observes that the gospel of Mark abruptly begins the story of the Servant-Son. A servant needs no genealogy or description of early background, but this Servant was and is the Son of God. Dr. James McGowan, who earned his Th.D. from Louisiana Baptist Theological Seminary, is adjunct professor of Theology and Hebrew at Tyndale Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He is also the education pastor at Sugar Land Bible Church in Sugar Land, Texas and the head of Tyndale Seminary's extension school in Sugar Land.
