Matthew was written to show that Jesus is the Messiah promised in the Old Testament. It is carefully arranged by subject matter as a clear explanation to the Jewish people, and to the world, of who Jesus realy is. In Matthew we meet Jesus, the Great Teacher, the Prophet, the Miracle Worker, the Victor over Death and the Atoning Sacrifice. This book is a commentary of the gospel of Matthew - but please don't let that put you off. It is designed to be picked up and read, as was Matthew's gosepl. You will find it helpful and gain some insights, understanding and prehaps seed throughts that can take and develop themselves. However, my first thought is of the average Christian who wants to get a clearer view of Jesus, his teaching and the relevance of Matthew's gospel to life today.
