James "Jesse" Owens overcame malnutrition as a young boy to set new world records his senior year in high school—in the 100-yard dash, the 100-meter dash and the 200-yard dash. This winner of four Gold Medals in the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Germany, returned to his country without honor or recognition for his accomplishments. Some years later he was appointed Ambassador of Sports by the US government, and in 1990 Jesse was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
