Children today are learning less and less of American civics; whether from highschool drop-outs not recieving a class or other reasons, civics contains fundamental concepts for understanding and functioning within our governmental system. Thus, this course developed specifically for lower grades helps simplify concepts and stress practical application. Concepts such as freedom, rules and rights are discussed, along with explanations of offices of government (such as the president) and influential persons in our country's history. Each chapter is followed with questions for discussion on the text. The Constitution is included in an appendix. 180 pages, indexed. 8th grade.
