As Christians, hospitality and the Gospel should go hand-in-hand. While we must speak the words of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we must not live like hypocrites and thus make our words impotent. Bypassing simple modern applications of hospitality, Amy Oden goes to its root to show how hospitality ultimately finds its basis in God. When we welcome others we extend God's welcome, and, as salvation is intrinsic in God's welcome, it must be part of our hospitality. By studying the early church's method we can gain a better understanding of what hospitality was designed to be within Christian settings, and then be able to truly extend God's welcome to those who need it the most. Group study exercises are included at the back of the book to facilitate use in small groups and churches.
