This is the tale of the mystery of Louis Pasteur and his Library! Louis Pasteur arose from humble beginnings to become the founder of the sciences of microbiology and immunology. However, when he died, his library was divided and sold to four Americans, none of whom were microbiologists or immunologists. The dispersal of la Bibliothhque de Louis Pasteur to the United States, which occurred in the 1960s and 1970s, was virtually unknown except for the men who purchased the books. This book covers the sequence of events that led to the locations of parts of la Bibliothhque to the United States, as well as the lives of the purchasers. The library was eventually reassembled so others could learn about how Pasteur was able to make his discoveries. Yet many mysteries concerning Pasteur and his Bibliothhque remain. 209 pages, softcover.
