Volume five in the sixteen volume series, Detrich Bonhoffer Works, includes Life Together and Prayerbook of the Bible. Life Together contains Bonhoffer's thoughts about the nature of Christian community based on the common life that he and his seminarians experienced at the seminary in Finkenwalde. He urges all that to be Christian means to live within community. Prayerbook of the Bible is a classic of Christian spirituality.
In this theological interpretation of the Psalms, Bonhoffer describes the moods of an individual's relationship with God and also the turns of love and heartbreak, joy and sorrow that are themselves Christian community's path to God.
The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Works Series offers material from some of Bonhoeffer's most influential thoughts along with biographical information about his life, ministry, and imprisonment. Bonhoeffer was a man of strong convictions; this dedication to the wholeness of the Gospel cost him his life at the hand of the Nazi regime during World War II. Each volume in this series is rich with Bonhoeffer's wisdom of what it takes to follow Christ in a fallen world.
