Help your child master division facts 1/1 up to 100/10 in just twenty minutes a day - without flash cards or rote memorization! Division Facts that Stick is a unique program that teaches children to build on their multiplication knowledge rather than simply relying on memorized facts. Children won't drill division facts over and over but rather will practice using backwards multiplication until answers become automatic. Ten units are included, with each designed to take approximately one week (though parents may adjust the pacing and activities to best suit each child's needs). On day one, parents teach a lesson that uses a ten-by-ten dot array with an L-shaped paper cover to model division problems. Lessons include scripted questions with answers, and plenty of direction for the teacher. For the remainder of the week, children will recite the week's corresponding times table as a warm-up, play a game that practices new facts, and complete a two-sided practice page that includes new problems and review. Ages 8 & up / Grades 3-7. Designed for children who have already studied division in a math program, but who haven't memorized division facts; this program is not designed to be an introduction to division and children will need a thorough grasp of what division means before they'll be able to memorize facts. To complete the games and practice pages, you'll also need 25 small counters of two different colors, a deck of playing cards, a regular six-sided die, two game tokens, a coin, a paperclip, and paper & pencil (not-included). 366 pages, softcover.
