In this book we propose a model for exploring and understanding Catholic worship. Catholic worship focuses on the celebration of the sacraments, the principle acts of worship in the Catholic Community. The model begins with the human experience of persons who come to church for a variety of reasons and occasions. Many chapters will begin with an actual pastoral situation, though the names have been changed, adapted from the experience of the authors. The model then proceeds to an axamination of the sacreaments as we find them rooted in the ministry of Jesus and then to a brief review of the history of the sacraments in the church. Then, finally the model focuses on the actual rites of the church and some of the pastoral challenges Catholics encounter in thier efforts to live the truth that only memory can treasure.
