Calvert Learning's elementary curriculum helps to develop children's natural curiosity and encourages kids to dive into favorite subject areas not because they have to, but because they're passionate about learning! The Calvert Grade 1 curriculum is comprised of two teacher's guides and ten student workbooks for each subject, plus 5 language arts beginning readers that help build phonics fluency and sight word recognition. The History & Geography program offers a gentle introduction to social studies, with units on identity, communication, feelings, families, communities, community helpers, the United States, the World, and the students' relation to the world. Children will learn about how they're unique, about good manners, how the United States was founded, the importance of teamwork, and more! The Science program includes units on being healthy, our world, energy, machines, light, hearing, the senses, animals, and plants. Children will learn about how light travels, how touch helps you, what animals eat, how plants grow, and more!
