How to Spell builds upon the premise that students learn to spell by saying and copying words, sounds and sight words. Students work individually to reinforce what they've learned, with pages repeated until students have successfully learned the next lesson. Teacher instructions are printed in small print at the top of the page. Most lessons include reading the sound and key word, which students memorize before moving on to additional words with the same sound; finally students make and copy the words, saying them aloud; additional types of activities are included as well. More challenging sounds, patterns, rules, sight words, and practice exercises are geared toward older students. Workbook 4 includes lessons on more advanced topics: prefixes and suffixes, possessive words, silent letters, and irregular spellings. It also includes a chart for students to measure their progress as they learn more sounds and spelling patterns. Grades 7-12. Skills Addressed: - Softc and g
